Water Fountains for Your Home and Garden

For the average home owner who searches for a water feature they should find one that is self-contained, meaning that they do not require water to be plumbed in; the water is cycled from a hidden basin, and is repumped by a small water pump. The pump and basin can either be in the water feature, or buried underground (in the case of an outdoor water feature).

A water feature may be indoor or outdoor and can be any size, from a table top water fountain to a large indoor wall fountain that will add the soothing sounds of a waterfall to your surrondings and help relieve stress.

Water Fountains

A very simplistic but artful water fountain. There are many fountains on the market today! But if your crafty you can design your own. Fountains pumps can be purchased separately. Find a nice location, assembly your fountain with your pump, add water and plug it in. In no time you'll be destressing!

Water Fountains

The water that flows in a water fountain never sounds exactly the same from one moment to the next. This dynamic quality keeps our listening experience from growing monotonous or predictable, which can easily happen if we listen to sound machines or audio recordings regularly. We can also choose to dramatically change the “song” of the water in our water fountain, simply by rearranging rocks or other features in the basin or by adding a new element – such as a seashell, leaf, or small piece of wood – along the water’s path. We can even place our own fingers in the water’s flow to change the sound of the water as it moves; feeling the water stream across our skin would bring yet another sensory element to our experience.

Tabletop Fountain

Now that the weather is turning colder, you might want to bring the outdoors inside by adding a tabletop fountain to your home decor. Table Top Fountains are highly recommended inhomes and offices to help increase the humidity levels and decrease the amount of dust particles in the air. This will have a large effect on people with allergies. The sound of the soothing running water also helps to produce a relaxing atmosphere which in turn reduces stress.

Ponds and Fountains

We've been talking about winterizing your pond and fountains. Your fountains can stay on for quite awhile yet. We have actually left are fountains in the pond until the water and mist actually start to freeze. Then you'll want to be sure to turn them off and take them out of the water.. Be sure that they drain, so they won't freeze up. Just keep them in the storage shed until spring.

Decorative Outdoor Garden Pond With Fountain

If you have a decorative outdoor garden pond with fountain, be sure that you cover it with some type of netting (you can get this in most garden or department stores). The purpose of this is to keep the falling leaves and other debris that is be being blown around out of the pond. The leaves become wet and begin decaying. This decaying is harmful to any fish you might have. It will also produce an unsightly murky water

A Traditional Fountain

From Wikipedia
A traditional fountain is an arrangement where water issues from a source (Latin fons), fills a basin of some kind, and is drained away. Fountains may be wall fountains or free-standing. In fountains sheets of water may flow over varied surfaces of stone, concrete or metal. Basins may overflow from one into another, or the overflow may imitate a natura lcascade. Many fountains are located in small, artificial ornamental ponds, basins and formal garden pools, and often they include sculpture. One of the most common features of a fountain, if there is enough pressure, is a jet or multiple jets, where water is forced into the air under pressure to some height.

Public Fountains

While vacationing this year, be sure to check out the public water fountains in the area. Most major cities have public water fountains. The fountains let you take in a fresh breath, and allow you to relax. You can just feel the stress melt away as you gaze into the water cascading down. Or close your eyes and listen to sounds of the water spashing.
Check out this public fountain if you get to Paris.

ACORN STANDING WATER FOUNTAIN

Water fountains bring the soothing sounds of flowing water into the home or backyard, but they also bring a visual element. Not only are water fountains beautifully designed and able to complement just about any existing decor, the water itself lends another dimension of stress relief to the equation. Watching the dance and trickle of water as it flows across rocks, down textured surfaces, and into a basin at the bottom enhances our auditory experience. When we listen to sound machines or audio recordings of nature sounds, we may feel the need to close our eyes to block out visual distractions around us that take our minds away from the goal of relaxation. In contrast, the visual attributes of water fountains bring us closer to that goal by giving us something beautiful and elemental to focus on with our eyes as we listen with our ears.

Wall Fountains

If water fountains are an allure for you, but you don't think that you have the room for one, check out the wall water fountains that are available. These virtually do not take up any new space. They are placed on an existing wall, could be the side of a house, garage or storage building. Just be sure you have a source of electric to run the pump that recycles the water.
You will still be able to see and hear the running splashing water.

Searching for a Unique Fountain

You say you would like to have a fountain, but you really don't want what everyone else has. You want something that is unique. Something that will really catch your eye and that of everyone else that can see it.
How do you find one? The garden centers all seem to carry the same ones. If you are not in a big hurry I suggest that when you're on a drive through the country, stop at one of the smaller garden centers. You might be surprised! Or search the internet.....there really is a great selection if you have the time to search.

Smaller Water Fountains

Water fountains don't have to be large or take up alot of space. There are many on the market that are smaller and perfect if you don't have alot of room. Just look around and you'll find what you are looking for.
Just remember that you will need an electric source to run your pump.
